Joan Willey
Ward III Alderwoman
Alderwoman Joan Willey has represented Ward 3 since 2006 and has been a proud Woodson Terrace resident for 44 years. Her long tenure on the Board of Aldermen reflects her deep commitment to the community and her belief in the value of strong, active neighborhoods.
Joan serves on the Parks Committee, where she has helped bring a wide range of programs and events to the city — including concerts, movies, walking and exercise programs, swimming opportunities, the annual Christmas Tree Lighting, community garden efforts, and citywide cleanup days. She has also supported the Special Projects Committee, which oversees the city’s beautification and Christmas awards. These programs encourage residents to take pride in their homes, maintain their properties, and help keep Woodson Terrace clean and welcoming.
Over the years, Joan has also been involved in initiatives focused on supporting vulnerable residents, including a committee that once checked on disabled community members during storm‑related power outages. She continues to champion efforts that strengthen community care and connection. The food pantry donation container at City Hall, which supports the Ritenour food pantry, is another project tied to the Parks Committee and reflects her belief in neighbors helping neighbors.
Joan is proud of Woodson Terrace’s beautiful park system, hardworking Public Works team, dedicated police department, and responsive city government. Looking ahead, she hopes to see empty buildings cleaned up and revitalized, and she remains committed to creating events and opportunities that bring residents together.
Alderwoman Willey continues to serve Ward 3 with gratitude, energy, and a focus on community pride.
