WHAT TO DO when your property was seized by the Woodson Terrace Police Department.
An appointment must be scheduled to allow all necessary research to be completed before the owner arrives to claim the property. At the time of the call, the owner will be advised of any required paperwork needed to retrieve the items. If the case is closed and the property is eligible for release, an appointment will then be scheduled for pickup.
Owner will need to present a current picture ID.
Depending on item proof of ownership might have to be shown.
Firearms will need proof of ownership and a current picture ID.
For the release of FIREARMS, a complete background check will be conducted of the owner. (For example: Convicted Felons and Wanted individuals will not be eligible.) The release of a firearm usually takes longer than other types of property. We kindly ask for your patients.
Seized Drugs- Under NO circumstances will any drug (legal or illegal), that was seized and submitted to the Property Control Unit, be returned to anyone. These items will be destroyed at the request of the Case Investigator or Officer when they are no longer of evidentiary value.
