A Message from Bret Carbray, Chief of Police

On behalf of the men and women of the Woodson Terrace Police Department, I welcome you to our website and thank you for taking the time to learn more about our organization and the services we provide.

It is a tremendous honor and privilege to serve as Chief of Police for the City of Woodson Terrace. Throughout my 27-year law enforcement career, I have served in a variety of assignments including patrol operations, criminal investigations, and specialized task forces. These experiences have shaped my leadership philosophy and strengthened my commitment to professional, ethical, and community-oriented policing.

Our Mission Statement and Core Values serve as the foundation of this department and guide every decision we make. The Woodson Terrace Police Department is comprised of dedicated professionals who genuinely care about the safety and well-being of our residents, businesses, and visitors. Within the resources entrusted to us, we strive to provide the most effective public safety services possible while maintaining the highest standards of integrity, accountability, and respect.

We are fortunate to serve a supportive community that recognizes the responsibilities and risks associated with this profession. That support strengthens our resolve and reinforces our commitment to delivering service with professionalism, compassion, and fairness.

Our policing philosophy blends traditional law enforcement practices with problem-solving strategies designed to meet the evolving needs of our community. We firmly believe that many public safety challenges are best addressed through strong partnerships with residents, businesses, and community stakeholders. By working together, we can enhance trust, improve communication, and build lasting solutions that contribute to a safer Woodson Terrace.

I remain committed to open communication, transparency, and listening to the needs of both our community and the officers who serve within this department. Maintaining a high level of professionalism not only ensures the quality of public safety our residents deserve, but also strengthens relationships that are essential to effective policing in today’s environment.

Public safety is a shared responsibility, and we are grateful for the continued commitment and support demonstrated by our city leadership and community members. I encourage you to explore our website, review our services and programs, and reach out with suggestions, concerns, or ideas that can help us continue improving the service we provide.

Together, through partnership and mutual trust, we will continue working to keep Woodson Terrace a safe, welcoming, and resilient community.
